Presentation- Demythologizing the Cultural History Behind the Rolling Stones Free Concert at Altamont, California, December 6th, 1969
Presented by Dr. Michael Skladany. At their peak (1968-1972), the Rolling Stones arguably said more about the cultural history of the 1960s than any other rock band of the era. A peak moment took place at the infamous "free concert" held at Altamont, California on December 6, 1969. Using literature, film, audio and interviews with some of the key participants, CSU Professor Dr. Michael Skladany will explore a heady mythology that rose up in the aftermath of the concert and still features almost six decades later.
