Presentation- Cleveland Restoration Society: Douglas Phillips
Throughout churches in Northeast Ohio and around the world, the artistry of the Phillips Stained Glass Studio stands out for its unique use of color, shape, and movement, creating pieces that reach beyond religious understanding. Douglas Phillips, founder of the studio, is believed to be the only African American artist to run his own stained glass studio between the years of 1952 and 1995. Presenter Jamie Miles from the Cleveland Restoration Society will highlight Phillips’ career, his development as an artist, a selection of his work and its importance as a part of Cleveland’s historic black churches.
