History of the Metroparks: Rocky River Reservation Presentation by John Pyke
Celebrate the one hundredth birthday of the Cleveland Metroparks by learning about the history of our nearest park, the Rocky River Reservation. An important topographical feature of Northern Ohio, the Rocky River Reservation became the first parkland acquired by the Cleveland Metropolitan Parks District, created in 1917. The history of the Metroparks is really the story of the vision, perseverance and stewardship of William A. Stinchcomb, the first and longest serving director of the Metroparks. John Pyke will share this story. Pyke is a two-term past president of the Lakewood Historical Society.
