Film - Their Eyes Were Watching God (2005)

Free-spirited Janie Crawford (Halle Berry) lives in 1920s Florida. She marries a local farmer at the insistence of her grandmother (Ruby Dee), but finds that marriage is not what she thought it would be. Janie searches for happiness through relationships with a mayor (Ruben Santiago-Hudson) and a drifter (Michael Ealy). Chasing after her dreams of love and happiness leaves Janie as the subject of gossip in her small town. Based on the 1990 novel by Zora Neale Hurston, this film continues our series of films based on books.
