Film - Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid (1973) Directed by Sam Peckinpah Presented by Terry Meehan
Pat Garrett (James Coburn) and Billy the Kid (Kris Kristofferson) are old pals passing the time in Lincoln County, New Mexico. Garrett, however, is about to become Sheriff, and when he does, he will have to run Billy out of town. Violent gunplay ensues. The Pat Garrett/William Bonney confrontation has been filmed many times, but never more “revisionist” than Peckinpah’s imaginative version. He even considered ending the story with Billy’s survival. Bob Dylan wrote the score and plays a character called Alias. Terry Meehan continues his series on Revisionist
Westerns of the 1970s, introducing each film with an original video, followed by audience reaction and a lively discussion.
