Documentary: Beyond Standing Rock: Energy, Environment and Tribal Control (2017) Directed by Brian Malone Presented by the Sierra Club Ohio Chapter

The Standing Rock conflict was first brought to the attention of the American public in the midst of the 2016 presidential race. While the media frenzy surrounding the election made the Dakota Access pipeline a trending topic, this protest was nothing new to the Standing Rock Sioux tribe. Beyond Standing Rock highlights the 170-year-long conflict between Native American tribes and the U.S. government over issues of independence, land ownership, and resources. Emmy award winning director Brian Malone takes us from the front lines of the protest to tribal headquarters, going behind the scenes to unveil the conflict.
