Concert - Ogni Suono: Saxophone Duo
Often likened to the human voice, the saxophone possesses an inherently singing quality that serves as a visceral bond between performer and listener. As something each of us uses every day, the human voice offers a uniquely universal point of entry for audiences into the world of contemporary music. Ogni Suono’s program features commissioned works from SaxoVoce, a long-term project exploring the wide-ranging musical, dramatic, and theatrical possibilities inherent in the synthesis of saxophone and voice. Ogni Suono has shared SaxoVoce with audiences in New York City, Boston, Buffalo, San Francisco, Detroit, Atlanta and Chicago. Ogni Suono's current SaxoVoce program will feature works by Felipe Lara, Chris Fisher-Lochhead, Erin Rogers, Dave Reminick, Zach Sheets and Kate Soper. The voice is used in drastically different ways throughout the program. While some pieces call for shouting, yelling, and murmuring, others require the performers to sing through the saxophone, whisper, and create air sounds.
